Van Pics!

Sorry for the delay, we know you guys have been checking back every 10 minutes to see the pictures of the van. It took a little longer than expected to get it insulated and to put up the wood panels. My friend Pete, who is a fellow artist from Cape Cod, was nice enough to say he would help me fix up the inside of the van to make it sleep friendly. It was more of an undertaking than either of us thought it would be. I arrived at Pete's place in Eastham around 11am, after a few quick measurements we headed over to the hardware store to get the supplies needed.
Below is a shot of the van before any work has been done, the wood on the floor is from the hardware store. I should mention the van is a Ford E-150 with a V-6 engine, for those of you who are wondering.

Below is a picture of the inside of the van as well, before any work was done.

The first stage was getting the ceiling covered up! (below)

Below you can see that we have started to get the bed platform started and it is starting to get dark...around this time another Cape Cod artist and friend Jerome showed up to help out.

Oh and I should mention, when I say "we" during any of this I really mean Pete or Jerome, I felt pretty useless I was kinda standing around waiting for Pete or Jerome to tell me to do something, which usually consisted of sanding an edge of a panel, or coloring in a coloring book to keep me busy and out of their way.
Below is a shot of some of Pete's tools. We started the day off with a couple of saws, and a power drill, then every 15 minutes Pete would run down to his basement to grab another gadget to do something else. By the end of the night Pete's front yard looked like the tool section of Home Depot.
Below you can see Jerome screwing in a wood panel to the wall of the van. Also the bed platform is coming along nicely. Check out the rad rounded edges and other fancy touches on the back door panels.

Below is a kinda dark shot of the finished van! It really needs to be seen in person to get the full impact of how cool it looks. We put the mattress on the platform to make sure it fit, and it fit perfectly. I am able to lay completely flat without having to bend my knees! I couldn't have done this without Pete and Jerome's help, so click their names to see their paintings and buy one or two so they don't feel like they wasted their day completely. As I said I got there around 11am and left a little after midnight, basically non-stop work the whole time, and it was a cold day and even colder night, but we still managed to have fun.
Lindsey and I still have to hang the curtains, put in some battery operated lights and some other fun stuff and then we will be ready to hit the road. We should be leaving within the next few days. We will start posting again when the trip gets going! Check back if a few days. - Logan

The Journey ALMOST begins....

so we bought the van! we are so excited, we will be putting up some pictures of it tomorrow, we are going to insulate it tomorrow with the help of Logan's friend Peter, who did the same thing to his van when he took a trip across country. we realized how cold it will be sleeping in there without some help of ply wood and such. we took a trip to ikea yesterday and bought a mattress and some fabric for curtains! we hope to leave by next Wednesday, we have a lot to do before then. we have to make a trip to AAA and plan out where we are going according to the camp sites, we are taking the southern route. Our first major stop will be in Florida we will see my aunt Ayn and family, also stay a little while at my dad's condo! but it may take a while to get to Florida, who knows we may have a great time and stay longer at whatever state in between here and there!!!! check back tomorrow for some before and after pics of the van!!! xox Lindsey
